On May 31st Rang a dó took part in a Hockey Blitz organised by the Kinsale Hockey Club. Despite some rain early in the morning (with some clever students quickly taking shelter under Ms O'Driscoll's umbrella!) the morning soon brightened up and the games began! Although many of the class had never played hockey before, the lessons the class recently had thanks to the Kinsale Hockey Club helped hugely. Everyone threw themselves into the games and we had a great morning. We even took back the "Fair Play" cup for the school! Well done Rang a dó! Check out www.kinsalehockeyclub.com for more information.
It may be the last month of the school year but that doesn't mean we at Rang 2 in Scoil Naomh Eltin are slowing down in our learning. Our gymnastic skills are going from strength to strength. In fact it's difficult to catch us in a photograph we are moving so fast!
It's been a busy week, and Rang 2 decided to end it with a well deserved trip to the playground. Who wants to be in the classroom when the sun is shining!
Everyone has planted sunflowers in the classroom. When they get big enough, we'll bring them home to plant outside (or maybe plant some in the school). We will keep track of how they're doing and put photos up here! Keep watching!
Our sunflowers have been growing like crazy! Even though Mr. O'Leary didn't water them enough last Friday and they were looking very thirsty on Monday morning when we came in to school! We are going to bring them home this week.
Last week we carried out an experiment on how plants drink. With some white carnations and sticks of celery, we tested how colours might change if they were placed in containers of water coloured with food dye. Check it out!
A big 'thank you' to Anthony for all his hard work helping us with our hurling and football skills. We are getting better and better every year! Look at the skills we have learned below!
To celebrate world book day some of the class came to school dressed as characters from their favourite books. Can you guess who they are?!
