The school is attempting to break into the top 50 schools in Manga High of all the schools in the UK and Ireland this month. We finished 73rd in April. We are currently 54th. If your son/daughter has time and a smart device please help us reach this goal by completing Manga High maths games online.
5th class students were challenged to come up with a poem about Covid-19 and the lockdown. Here's a same of their creative work from Ethan, Islay, Alex, Adam and Bartek. Well done to everyone.
I hope you all had a good week. Here is the workbank for this week for both groups.
We have added in new challenges this week. The weather forecast isn't quite as sunny so it might be a good week to give one of the challenges a go.
Ruby created a stop motion video! She used "Stop Motion Studio" to create her's on the iPad but there are many other stop motion apps on the market. Very creative Ruby!
Bartek reviewed Harry Potter. Great work Bartek!
Tomas has high praise for Broken Glass in his review. Thanks Tomas!
Rachel got very creative last week with art and baking some bread while here WiFi was down! Yum!
Here is this week's suggested assignments.
Please take good care of the novel, Broken Glass, if you have a copy at home. This belongs to Cork County Library and must be returned at some stage. Please keep it in a safe place until I can collect the books in school and return them to the library.
5th Class A&B had the option of entering a writing competition last week. Ms O'Sullivan and I received a number of very impressive entries but we could only pick one winner. The winning entry was by Islay. Well done to all those who entered. All entries can be seen using the link below and they are definitely worth a read!
Thanks for emailing in what students are learning at home. Of course this is just a sample!
Some 5th class A and B students students took on the challenge of a story writing competition and amazing effort went in to them all. Simply outstanding! Well done Amanda, Ethan and Islay!
4th Class A were equally busy writing this week. Eva undertook a truck-load of research to prepare her entry for the World Vision Essay Competition. Terrific work Eva! The title was
"How We Can Save Our Planet"
And Tomas, Riley and Eva were busy reviewing the World Book Online (Francis Bacon), a real life book (Dog Man) and one of our favourites (Harry Potter)! Great work!
This week is a 4-day school week. See below the suggested list of work for both groups.
I understand there is a great deal of online login details and websites to keep track of now - Manga High, Duolingo, Typing.com, CJ Fallon (and this week I am suggesting getepic.com for reading material).
Please do not hesitate to get in touch by email if you are unsure how to use such websites or have misplaced or forgotten login details.
