Teaching the rest of the school about the Archdeacon Duggan Bridge
5th Classes teaching 1st Classes - what great teachers!
Learning all about bridges
Building Spaghetti Bridges
The task was to create a bridge using spaghetti that would cross a 50cm gap. Children had to measure and secure a 50cm gap. They then had to use spaghetti and tape to create their bridge. They came up with different methods to create their bridges. They then tested to see what the bridges could hold.

Understanding the loads bridges can hold
Children were using wooden blocks and Cardboard to see what distributions their bridges could hold
Would it be easier to fly than use the bridge!
Children created paper planes and experimented with their models to see who could fly the furthest, perhaps air will be the newest bridge!
We are creating models inspired by the Archdeacon bridge
3D printing
Cillian created a 3D model using his 3-D printer. He showed us how to use the Blender software to develop the models. Cillian worked hard to scale the Archdeacon bridge down to create these models.
STEAM
We have been learning with STEAM about Chemistry. We have enjoyed understanding the periodic table amongst the topics shared with us by Eli Lilly.
