Fiona Coffey Visits Scoil Naomh Eltin

We were very happy to welcome artist, Fiona Coffey, to Scoil Naomh Eltin, last Monday. Fiona created the lovely works of art which can be seen on both sides of the school’s entrance path. Fiona began a long collaboration with the staff and pupils of Scoil Naomh Eltin in October 2019. The art pieces were eventually installed last summer after a delay due to Covid.

At long last we were able to invite Susan O’ Hanrahan and other guests back to the school to see the work which she inspired. We are very grateful to all of the parents and members of the previous and present Board of Managements who made this wonderful collaboration happen. Barry Moloney, local historian and parent, will ensure that the history of all the stories of Kinsale within the art are carried on from class to class in the future.

Children were fascinated to see the work that they inspired and drew, put together so artistically by Fiona.

Presentation photograph includes our previous and present Principals, Susan O’ Hanrahan and Terry McCarthy, artist Fiona Coffey, Sr. Genevieve, representing the Sisters of Mercy and the girls school and Alice McCarthy representing the previous boy’s school which was run by the Presentation Brothers.

Kinsale by 4th class

4th class pupils recently completed a model making project where they had to build a model of a shop or a Kinsale business. The idea was part of a geography lesson where pupils navigated a map of their local town to find various businesses and shops.  Their models are outstanding and pupils deserve enormous credit for their work. Táimid thar a bheith bródúil as na páistí ó Rang 4.
