1st Class B are very proud to have our very own coder. Coolest Projects was held in Dublin on the 1st of March. It celebrates young digital creators and the amazing things they make with technology such as the amazing new game 'Catch Mr Guy' made by our coder with Scratch. We look forward to playing his games in ithe future!
Our school was filled with a sea of green today as we celebrated Lá Glas in honour of St. Patrick’s Day. The children arrived dressed in every shade of green with festive hats, scarves, and accessories.
As part of our Lá Glas celebrations, we gathered for a ceolchoirm where each class had the opportunity to share what they had been working on. From lively Irish songs and poetry to dances and music, it was wonderful to see the talent and enthusiasm of our students on display. We were also treated to some ceol agus craic with our very own banna ceoil, who had everyone clapping, singing, and dancing along. We had our St. Patrick’s Day Parade, where each class marched around the school grounds, waving Irish flags and handmade banners. In the lead-up to Lá Glas, students learned about the history and traditions of St. Patrick’s Day and even tried their hand at some traditional Irish dancing. Our older students prepared stories as Gaeilge for our younger students, who thoroughly enjoyed listening to them. Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh go léir! ☘️💚 Our school was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated World Book Day in style! From the moment the children arrived, dressed as their favourite book characters, it was clear that our students truly love to read. Throughout the day, students took part in a variety of fun activities. We enjoyed buddy reading sessions, where older students read to younger classes, webinars with famous authors such as Julia Donaldson, draw-along sessions with illustrators, and much more. Each class explored different stories and authors, with children sharing their favourite books and recommendations, inspiring each other to discover new adventures through reading. "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go." – Dr. Seuss 📖💫 Well done to our two Vex Robotics teams who represented Scoil Naomh Eltin in the Munster competition in MTU. The hard work they put into building their robots, as well as their excellent teamwork, were evident on the day. Maith sibh go léir.
We are pleased to announce a special hands-on learning experience for our students! Over the next few weeks, classes will have the unique opportunity to observe the life cycle of a chicken firsthand.
As we welcome spring, a season of growth and new beginnings, John from Gleenon Farms has provided us with an incubator containing eggs. If all goes well, we hope to see them hatch in the coming weeks. This project will allow students to witness the stages of development from incubation to hatching, fostering curiosity, responsibility and an appreciation for nature. Stay tuned for updates as we eagerly await the arrival of our fluffy new friends. |
