On our most recent visit to the site Dermot Hurley MMD Project Manager delighted us with this aerial view photo of our new school building. Our project is progressing rapidly and is on target for September. One of our students from 3rd class paid a visit to the building site today. He spoke with Dean, one of the builders on site, and Dean was able to tell him how the build was progressing. It was great to see the outlines of the new hall and classrooms coming together. Thanks to all at MMD Construction for their hard work so far. Spirits were high on Friday, 4th April in Scoil Naomh Eltin when the Six Nations Cup was brought to the school by Ultan O'Callaghan (Munster Domestic Rugby Manager) and Denis Collins from Kinsale Rugby Club. The pupils dressed in tricolour and sang Ireland's Call for the Six Nations visitors. Ultan promoted physical activity for all the children and encouraged them to get active in any sports club including their local rugby club. This visit endorsed our status as an Active School and reaffirmed our allegiance to our active school flag achieved by Scoil Naomh Eltin. There was a buzzing atmosphere as the Six Nations Cup was escorted out through Scoil Naomh Eltin's guard of honour. Some of our budding rugby enthusiasts have their eyes on this cup for the future! Junior and Senior Infants, First and Second Classes are currently partaking in an eight-week block of Speech Drama Classes. The children are working on all elements of Speech, Voice, Drama, Acting and Mime. The classes are fun and beneficial to the children - inspiring imagination and creativity, and helping them to increase their confidence. An experienced and talented Speech and Drama teacher visits our school on Mondays to teach these classes. Below are some pictures of our Senior Infants aboard an imaginary pirate ship! Congratulations to our students in sixth class who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday last in our parish church. A very Special thanks to Bishop John Buckley, Fr Young, Canon O'Mahony, Fr Frank and to Fr Charlie Kiely who concelebrated the mass and welcomed the Holy Spirit. Thanks to Sr. Geraldine our diocesan adivsor for sharing the day with us and for her kind words. Thanks to all our parents who assisted students and teachers throughout the years and on the day. Thanks to our teachers especially Ms. O' Regan and Sr Mary for their dedication and support. To our students our thanks for inviting us to share in this sacrament with you.
