Have you visited and seen our new playground yet? Please come view. Many thanks to our friends in Eli Lilly for assisting in making our dreams come true. In Scoil Naomh Eltin youth is eternal. Míle buíochas. On Tuesday 15th of March primary schools all around the country took part in an event to commemorate the 1916 Easter Rising. We celebrated and remembered the 1916 rebellion in school in front of a large crowd of parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends.
Highlights of our event included the raising of the tricolour – which had been presented to our school at a ceremony earlier in the academic year, a recitation of the proclamation and our proclamation for a new generation. We also had a hugely successful parade commemorating the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising with a spectacular timeline of Irish History. The students art work was beautifully displayed around the hall, with each class writing their own declarations, as well as projects and information about 1916. We would like to extend a huge message of thanks to all parents who attended the event, and a particular word of thanks to our special guest of honour, Capt. Phil Devitt, Harbour Master of Kinsale for raising our tricolour flag. The pupils, staff, and visitors on the day all sang Amhrán na Bhfiann while the flag was being raised, as well as all the children raising their own handmade tricolour flags. |
