Fifty students from 2nd, 3rd and 4th class participate in a friendly lunchtime chess league on Wednesdays.
President Michael D. Higgins arrived in Kinsale yesterday. He was greeted by leaving cert pupils on his way to the new sports centre. Kinsale Community School was being launched as a Microsoft showcase school, the first of its kind in Munster. President Higgins also unveiled the 1916 Proclamation sculpture. Students from Scoil Naomh Eltin were there to welcome his arrival on this wonderful day! The mobile farm from Agri Aware caused great excitement at Scoil Naomh Eltin when it visited the school this week. The children had a great chance to see up close and personal some animals and birds from the farm and learned some interesting facts about life on the farm. Today we took on our first debate of the year. The motion was very interesting and something both teachers and students had strong opinions about. 'Homework is a waste of time for primary school students'. There was excellent research and facts from both sides and clearly a lot of work had gone in to the preparation of the debate. We were very lucky to come out on top and will be going on to the next round of the West Cork Debating Tournament. Naomh Eltin Abú!
