On Monday, Dcember 18th pupils in Scoil Naomh Eltin partook in a Non-Uniform / Christmas Dress-Up Day in aid of St. Vincent de Paul. We raised a total of €600. Well done everyone!
A big thank you to our pupils who put great effort into making cribs. These will be displayed in Kinsale's local shops. Our Junior Infants are doing a fantastic job teaching all the other students and staff in our school a new Lámh sign each week! They are so good at using Lámh they can now sing using it too! We had a very exciting visitor today at Scoil Naomh Eltin when Santa arrived by firetruck! The children asked Santa lots of questions and we even sang some Christmas Songs! Age doesn't matter. Size doesn't matter. Only the clock and the skill of your opponent... We were very lucky to have Ian Heffernan in from The National Maritime College of Ireland to speak to 5th/6th class about Antarctica. He spoke about the ships used on his visit to Antarctica, where he spent seven years driving boats. We could have stayed listening to Ian's stories all day long. He shared stories about the journey, the weather, animals, adventures and the fun he had while exploring Antarctica, all with some amazing pictures! It was like real life David Attenborough! Thank you Ian for taking time out to come and speak to us in Scoil Naomh Eltin. Take a look at some of the pictures below!
Well done to our 4th Class pupil who recently donated hair to the Rapunzel Foundation. This is a charity that takes donations of hair in order to make wigs for people who have lost their own hair as a result of serious illness. We barely recognised our student when she arrived into school on Friday with her new short hair! What a fantastic thing to do - well done!
Scoil Naomh Eltin is very proud of our 4th Class pupil, pictured below, whose story 'Why Rudolph's Nose is Red' was published recently in the Southern Star Christmas Magazine. It was a wonderful, imaginative tale that explains how the most famous reindeer of all got his bright and shiny nose. Well done to all the boys and girls in 4th Class for their fantastic creative writing efforts.
