Having already won the South-East qualifying sections in Carrigaline, today the boys' soccer team competed in the Cork County Finals of the FAI Primary 5s Competition in Irish Independent Park.
Today's results saw them first winning 1-0 against Gaelscoil Cloich na Coillte, losing the 2nd game against St. Patrick's and then drawing the 3rd game against Ballinora NS 0-0 to qualify for the semi-finals. Here, after a valiant effort, the team lost against Newcestown 4-1 having lead 1-0 at half-time.
The boys represented Scoil Naomh Eltin admirably, doing themselves proud with some spirited performances and playing some strong, high-quality football. The 4th, 5th and 6th classes were there to support the team and the boost their encouragement gave the players was palpable.
On the soccer front in Scoil Naomh Eltin, attention now turns to the annual end-of-year indoor Soccer League for both boys and girls.
