'Fun for all' Day.
Check out some photos from our recent 'Fun for All' day! We had a super time taking part in a host of fun activities like 'Tug of War', parachute games, water relays and obstacle course. There were lots of laughs and smiles and everybody was a winner!! Thanks to the parents association for the yummy treats that they sent in! They were a great way to finish off an enjoyable day!
Pirate Pete Magic Show
On Wednesday June 2nd 2021, a special visitor arrived at Scoil Naomh Eltin, as part of a well-deserved 'Fun Day' for the infant classes. As you will see from the photographs below, we thoroughly enjoyed and were enthralled by Pete's magic tricks! Pirate Pete kept up enteratined and amused with some amazing magic tricks and some really funny jokes! We were at the edge of our seats! Thank you to Miss O' Connor for organising Pirate Pete's visit!
Did somebody say 'ice-cream'?
As a treat for having worked so hard all year, another element of our 'Fun Day' was a delicious ice-cream from Mr Cool's ice-cream truck! It was so exciting to see the ice-cream truck drive right into our school yard and we all thorougly enjoyed our delicious ice-creams! To top off a wonderful 'Fun Day' of magic, laughter and ice-cream we relaxed on the grass for an epic 'Teddy Bear's Picnic'. We had all chosen our favourite teddy to bring to school for the day and are happy to report that the teddies had as much fun as we did!
The joyous return to school on March 1st 2021.
Monday March 1st was a very special day for Senior Infants. After almost two months of working so hard at home, the school re-opened and we returned to our classroom once again. It was so lovely to be reunited with all of our friends and arrive back into our happy, sunny classroom. Our teachers were so proud of how hard we had worked on Seesaw. For the first few days back, we took it nice and easy. We told our friends and teachers all of our news, sang songs, played games and spent lots of time playing with our friends who we had missed so much. As you can see from our happy smiles - we all love school so much in Senior Infants!
Chalk Art.
We had so much fun recently when we went outside to the yard with outdoor chalk and let our imaginations run wild! We created cats, butterflies, sharks and a whole host of other wonderful ideas! We were a little dusty after this activity but it was so much fun :)
Aistear 'The Post Office'.
In December, we explored the theme of 'The Post Office' in Aistear. We learned about all of the different services that the Post Office provides, and we practised using lots of post office-related vocabulary. We wrote letters to our Mums and Dads telling them all of our news from the first term in school. We also wrapped some cardboard boxes in wrapping paper, practised writing our own address on these and designed our own stamp! We had lots of fun pretending to be post office clerks and customers. As a special treat for working so hard in Term 1, we had some yummy hot chocolate on the last day of Aistear in December.
Aistear theme: 'The Restaurant'.
In November, one of themes we explored in Aistear was 'The Restaurant'. This was so much fun! We made our own chef hats out of paper and then set to work creating yummy 'paper pizzas' with a whole host of different toppings - cheese, pepperoni, pineapple, mushroom - you name it! We then set to work designing and constructing a restaurant using different construction materials- lego, large and small blocks etc. We painted mouth-watering cupcakes and doughnuts and practiced our fine motor skills by threading pictures of different food items. Finally, we let our imaginations run wild by making different types of food using our playdough and completing various playdough challenges on our restaurant-themed playdough mats. Phew! We were hungry after all that activity, so on Friday as a special treat for working so hard we ate a slice of delicious REAL pizzas :) Yummy!
Aistear - 'The School'
In October, one of our Aistear themes was 'The School'. We had lots of fun exploring this theme. We used felt, sequins and stickers to design new school shoes and we used our construction materials to work as part of a team to design and create a school building! We also used our imaginations to complete various playdough challenges. We love Aistear!
