Here in 5th Class, we put in a great effort for World Book Day 2017. We chose characters from some of our favourite books, including Alice in Wonderland, Pippi Longstocking and The Midnight Gang. See can you spot our 'Book Fairy' in the photos below!
On Wednesday 22nd of February, 5th Class held a 'Bake Off' in their classroom. Every pupil chose a different sweet treat to bake at home, and then brought in their wares for everyone else to sample. The result was a massive selection of mouth-watering treats - including scones, chocolate-biscuit cake, flapjacks, cheesecakes and cookies. The selection included many treats from different countries -including Estonia, Croatia and Slovakia. By the end of the day, there wasn't a crumb left in our classroom -everything had been devoured, and we kindly offered some samples to the other classes. We had great fun and stocked up on sweet treats before Lent began!
Over the last few days 5th Class have been doing lots of science experiments, and it is our very own students that are the scientists! Science teaches children to make observations and collect information to make a conclusion. Our 5th Class have been outstanding at practising all of these skills. These are some of the photos from the experiments so far, and we look forward to more over the next few days!
Here are some photos of 5th Class doing Irish in class.
The children loved engaging in Irish Drama "Sa Bhialann" where they role-played scenes in a restaurant with a waiter and customers. Children learned lots of new phrases such as: "Fáilte go dtí bialann....." "Seo daoibh na biachlár!" "Ba mhaith liom _______ don réamhchúrsa." "Bhí an béile an blasta." "Beidh mé ar ais arís!" |
