We marked St. Brigid's Day and also the end of Catholic Schools Week 2019 last week by making traditional crosses using reeds. Legend has it that St. Brigid (Ireland's patron female saint) used reeds to make a cross to teach a dying chieftain about God. Today, the St. Brigid's Cross is still hung in homes to protect against disease, sickness, fire and theft.
It took practice, skill and team-work to create the crosses, but we really enjoyed making them!
