Fun Day in 1st Class
1st Class had so much fun today! Two ice cream vans came to visit. The only problem was one arrived in pieces and had to be built and painted! No better team for the job than 1st class! Pirate Pete entertained everyone with his magic tricks and we showed off our baking skills by making delicious muffins. We played a Kahoot quiz on the iPads with some very tricky questions based on our school and got to play some board games with our friends. We even watched a movie with some popcorn and jellies! A great and much deserved day all round!

Posting a very special letter
The boys and girls had great fun writing their letters to Santa. We were able to walk to the postbox near the school and post them ourselves. How lucky were we that the postman arrived as we were there. He made sure our letters were delivered safely and even jumped into a photo with us all! Thank you!

STEM Project - Design a playground in your group
It is safe to say this activity went down a treat with the boys and girls. We looked at pictures of the playground in Kinsale and discussed the types of equipment that would be found in a playground. Each pod had to work together to create their own playground using Lego. Their creativity was flowing and some great ideas were displayed. Well done!
Exploring 2D shapes
The boys and girls in 1st class really enjoyed working with shapes. We used tangrams to reinforce the characteristics of each shape. They were then set a challenge to create an animal using the shapes. I think you will agree they all did a fantastic job!

Grandparents Day
1st Class were delighted to welcome all the grandparents and parents into our classroom on Grandparents Day. We recited a poem and sang a song for everyone. We then asked the grandparents questions that we had prepared in class. These questions were based on school in the past. We found out lots of interesting information and we compared our classroom to our grandparents classroom. 1st Class would like to thank everyone for visiting.
Christmas Carol Service
Rang 1 had the most wonderful time on stage performing for all the parents at the Christmas carol Service. Everyone sang their hearts out. We really enjoyed reciting our dán 'Féach ar mo Chrann Nollaig' and singing 'When Santa Got Stuck in the Chimney'. A big thank you to everyone who came to watch.

All Danced Out!
For the past six weeks we have been dancing our socks off! We have being so lucky to get the opportunity to do contemporary dance with Dancing Derek and Irish Dancing with Miah. We have learned so many new moves and dances. A big thank you to Dancing Derek and Miah for teaching us.
Fire Safety
Two firemen from the Kinsale Fire Service came to visit our class. They spoke to us about fire safety. They told us a lot of important information that everyone should know in the case of a fire, We also got Fire Safety books from the firemen. A big thank you to Cónan and David for visiting.
Mobile Farm Visit
Rang 1 were delighted to hear that the mobile farm was visiting our school. They got to see pigs, calves, sheep, a turkey, a hen and some baby chicks! Everyone had a great time. Thank you to Pat who taught us lots of interesting facts about the animals.
Maths Week
We all enjoy maths in 1st class so there was extra excitement when we heard that it was Maths Week. We did extra maths challenges in class and a fun maths trail outside where we used our Maths Eyes to find the answers.
Oíche Shamhna
We transformed into super creepy and scary characters for dress up day on Friday 25th October!
Brick X Club
Rang 1 had a brilliant morning creating and constructing Lego when BrickX Club came to visit. They built some excellent pieces.
