We are all excited to have the return of our annual Scholastic Book Fair. The book fair will run from 28th February - 7th March. Children from all classes will have an opportunity to visit the book fair and make their very own wish list. It is a great chance to stock up on books for your library while also helping the school to stock up on books for every child to enjoy!
To celebrate World Book Day on 2nd of March children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. We can't wait! We are currently celebrating “Feel Good February” in Scoil Naomh Eltin. Our aim is to promote the health and happiness of each of our pupils through a positive school environment. A “Wellness Committee” has been established and a timetable of events has been co-ordinated bringing together a variety of ideas and activities for your children to enjoy.
The theme for each day of the month is listed below and these continue for the month of February. Kind Regards, Ms. Neary and Ms. Cottrell Co-ordinators Musical Monday: Children will listen to music to help them relax, dance and have fun. The theme song for the years "Feel Good February" is "Count on Me", by Bruno Mars. Together Tuesday: Children will play board games and talk about working and playing together. Workout Wednesday: Children will participate in an extra PE activity each Wednesday or go for a walk. Therefore, children can wear runners on Wednesdays. Thankful Thursday: Pupils will take part in Gratitude exercises allowing them to express thanks for things/people/experiences that make them happy. Fun Friday: Fridays are all about fun for this month! Our Second Class A have become the first ever winners of the Europe Day Song Competition!. The feedback from the judges was wonderful, detailing that they were "extremely impressed with the quality of the lyrics, the creativity of the children and the quality of their video". The pupils will perform on stage in Cork City Hall on May 7th at the first ever Europe Day festival, a fun day out for all the family. Our Tánaiste Micheál Martin will be in attendance to answer questions from the children. They will also receive their official prize from the current French Ambassador to Ireland, Mr. Vincent Guerend. Please enjoy our song entry and video below! We are so proud of them! We are so proud of our debaters, they have made it to the semi-final of the Concern Primary Debating Tournament. They have put in hours of research and preparation for each motion and have had to think on their feet under pressure but more importantly have shown great respect for one another and their opponents.
Maith sibh! We were delighted to receive the recent acknowledgement from St. Vincent De Paul. Many thanks to all who participated in our Christmas Jumper Day and helped raise the vital funds needed to help those in need in our community.
We were delighted to meet so many wonderful grandparents in school. We also heard lovely things about those who couldn’t visit us and know how important all these special people are in the lives of our students. Thank you to the PA for the refreshments for our visitors.
Well done to the Scoil Naomh Eltin Debating Team. They had their second win on November 22nd and carried the motion 'School Uniforms should be a thing of the past'.
The opposition put up a tough fight but Naomh Eltin got ahead with some excellent rebuttals. They were commended by the adjudicator for their research skills and for thinking of the global picture by including points about fast fashion and the rights of garment workers around the world. Maith Sibh! Thank you to Third, Fourth and Fifth Classes for showing us some very interesting experiments. The teachers and the other classes were very impressed with your preparation and how well you explained the science. Intel Mini ScientistWell done and congratulations to our 6th Class pupils on hosting a wonderful Science Exhibition in the halla on Wednesday, the 16th of November. The hard work and dedication was matched by a sense of enjoyment by all who came to visit. Check out the pictures from the big day.
A big thank you to our Parent’s Association who organised the Scoil Naomh Eltin Bazaar yesterday.
