On Wednesday 24th February, 6th class officially launched their International Recipe Book in the School Hall, followed by a Bake Sale with an international twist! They produced the book as part of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme. The event was a great success - with the Recipe Books and baked goods completely selling out! At 11:30 am, the class gave an outline of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme to a crowd of parents, teachers and friends - explaining the different roles within their business, and the various stages involved in producing the Recipe Book. Mrs Gwen Lannigan-O' Keeffe of the Steakhouse, Kinsale was invited to officially launch the International Recipe Book. A recipe book was presented to our principal Mrs O' Hanrahan, Sr Mary and Mrs Sarah O' Riordan of our Parents Association. Following the launch, everyone was invited to purchase our delicious baking, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. There was a wide array of mouth-watering treats available to buy including Banoffee Pie, Bailey's Cream Cheesecake, Brownies, Tiffin Bars and Queen Cakes. Some of the international treats included Faworki (Polish biscuits), Lithuanian Pastry Balls, Spanish Omlette and Koeksisters (a South African dessert). Traditional favourites such as Rice Crispie Buns were also available! 6th Class did a great job in organising the Bake Sale - a great day was had by all. We would really like to thank the parents and pupils of the school for their support in our business venture. We would also like to extend a massive thank you to the teachers and staff who helped us make the day happen - we really appreciate their help! Further copies of our International Recipe Book are now available to purchase from 6th Class.
Transition Year pupils from Kinsale Community School invited us to take part in an art competition promoting positive mental health. Well done to everyone who took part. Fantastic little artists we have here at Scoil Naomh Eltin!
Congratulations to our U11 and U13 teams who recently competed at the Kinsale & District Credit Union Quiz. Both teams did fantastically well and had a great evening!
2/2/2016 0 Comments 6th Class are currently busy putting the final touches to their International Recipe Book, which they are making as part of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme. The book features a sweet and savoury recipe from ten selected countries, as well as five key facts on each country. The class was split into small groups and each group was given a country to research. The International Recipe Book will be on sale in Scoil Naomh Eltin in early March. A International Bake Sale will be held at the end of February. Here you will have the opportunity to buy sweet treats from each of the ten countries featured in the book, as well as some firm favourites like Rice Crispie buns! A fraction of all funds raised will be donated to two charities, selected by 6th Class themselves - CAMHS (Childhood Adolescent Mental Health Services) and Make a Wish Ireland. Here in 6th Class we would really appreciate your support, and look forward to seeing you at our Bake Sale and Showcase Day. More details to follow! |
