Fantastic news! Our school has been highly commended in the Walton's Music for Schools Competition for our rendition of the song 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams. The national competition is a celebration of music in Irish schools. Congratulations to everyone who was involved and thank you to everyone who dedicated so much of their time to preparing the students for their performance. We really hope you enjoy it! http://www.newschool.ie/Primary_School_Finalists_2014/Default.3953.html

The New Scoil Naomh Eltin
We were delighted to be invited to take an exciting excursion to the construction site grounds where the old St. John’s Primary School WAS and where the NEW Scoil Naomh Eltin is being built. Equipped with hard hats and reflective safety vests, Principal Susan O’Hanrahan and project manager Dermot lead our tour through the clay-like earth and mud to view the progress of the building’s assembly. Impressive was the skeleton of what will be the school hall. Tall and spacious, we imagine the expansive space will be a true asset for so many school functions. We were informed that Scoil Naomh Eltin will have vehicle entrances and exits that will allow for smooth and organized traffic flow. That is incredibly good news for parents who have muddled through the treacherous chaos of school drop off/pick up. Also, safe pedestrian paths have been allocated for those of us who trek by foot. Another positive safety trait is the administration offices will be on the main floor by the main entrance. No one will enter or exit the premises without passing someone of authority. There are two floors to this building, a positive aspect that allows leeway for growth, development and the ever expanding pupil populous of the future. This is an exciting time for all of us. It is especially exciting for the children who have this unique opportunity to benefit from a structure that has been created specifically for them to experience optimal educational development. Thea Pires and T.J Foley (Reina Shane Foley’s parents) The results from the school uniform survey are as follows:
Q. 1. Do you want a school uniform? Yes = 90% No = 5% Q. 2. Would you like the school to have a uniform for which some items of clothing could be bought in a department store? Yes = 96% No = 4% Q. 3. Scoil Naomh Eltin's Board of Management has been working with Parent and Staff representatives in designing our new school uniform keeping in mind cost and durability. The following uniform was proposed and was accepted. 87% voted in favour. Boys Girls School Trousers Pinafore/Skirt/ School Trousers Shirt Shirt Tracksuit Pants Tracksuit Pants The items listed above may be bought in any department store. The following items will be supplied in school all year round: School crested jumper School crested tracksuit top School tie Míle buíochas do gach éinne. Sincere thanks to all. |
