We had our annual Open Night on Monday 10th of October. There were activities in every room and some amazing displays in the corridors as you can see in the following photographs. Brian Gallagher is an experienced prose writer and has had fourteen novels published – four of them for adults and ten novels of Irish historical fiction for children. His latest work is a new children’s historical novel, WINDS OF CHANGE, set during the Land War, and published by O’Brien Press in 2021. Brian Gallagher visited our school on Thursday October 20th. Several of the children have read his books. 5th and 6th Class pupils heard all about how he became an author and what steps you need to follow when writing a book. He also read a chapter from his latest children’s book ‘The Winds of Change’. It was a special day on Monday of this week. Scoil Naomh Eltin was visited by the Kinsale Junior A football team after their wonderful winning of the South East Championship trophy over the weekend. In our first whole-school assembly for several years we celebrated with the team in the school hall. There were many strong links between the team members and both children and staff of the school, not least the presence of our own Mr. O'Brien on the team. Cionn tSáile Abú! |
