I hope that you all had a very nice weekend and that you enjoyed the good weather safely.
Can you believe that we are now in the month of June. This is always a very exciting month in school. With only three and a half weeks left in school and as you have been working so hard your teacher has decided to give you a little less work during the next two weeks and more fun activities so be ready. Your last day of homework for this school year will be Friday June 12th.

Thank you for the pictures and the work that you have been sharing with your teacher. You have done a great job and even if You did not send in your work I know that you have been doing your best. Thank you to your teacher also for supporting you so well. Your class section on our website looks great.

Blue Star Flag Entry
Thank you all for sending in your wonderful pictures and projects for our Blue Star Flag Entry. I think that we will do very well indeed. Lets wait and see. Wont it be great to raise a new flag next year. Well probably have to get another flagpole.

Chess
Congratulations to our Scoil Naomh Eltin teams who have been playing schools from counties all over Ireland . On Friday May 29th Scoil Naomh Eltin chess team was placed 6th in the country. Comhghairdeas libh.
Mangahigh
During the months of April and May teachers have been setting students the challenge to be placed in the top 50 schools in the United Kingdom and Ireland in Managhigh online maths where students earn points by playing the maths games. In April as each student earned points which were then combined we managed to get to 73rd place . In the last week of May Scoil Naomh Eltin achieved its goal and was placed 45th . Active Schools Week
During the week starting Monday June 15th Scoil Naomh Eltin will celebrate active schools week. On this week you will have no homework. An activity schedule will be placed on the school website and also sent to you by your teacher so be ready.
Sixth Class
Sixth class students as you prepare to finish in Scoil Naomh Eltin your teachers and I have planned a number of online meetings with you. We look forward to hearing some of your memories from this time. We also look forward to celebrating your graduation with you also online for the first time ever. You are indeed making history. We look forward to seeing you all.
Reports
I wish to tell you that your end of year school report will be sent out to your parents/guardians in the third week in June.
Booklists
Booklists for the next school year will be sent to your parents/guardians via email in the coming weeks. High Street Books have said that parents/guardians may send in booklists to them by email and the books will be posted out. We will give you further details as booklists are issued.
Book Rental
You will receive information regarding Book rental for the new school year in the coming weeks
Classes and the new school year.
We await guidance from the Department of Education and Skills in relation to the start date for the new school year and for how it will be managed.
Classes and teachers for the new school year are not yet finalised due to delays relating to Covid 19 and Department of Education and Skills Guidelines.
I will keep you informed as soon as we have any news on these matters.
School Uniforms
I wish to remind you that Laura’s Schoolwear, which may be contacted on (021 4368210) or on [email protected], are offering appointments to parents/guardians from Scoil Naomh Eltin to purchase uniforms on Saturday July 18th2020. Ideally they would like you to email your requirement in advance and they will have your package ready or they will post it to you.
Kinsale Arts Weekend
I have been asked to tell you that the organisers of Kinsale Arts Weekend which is due to be held on July 9th to 12th are looking for children who like to sing to take part in a virtual choir. If you are interested you will find details on our school website.
Summer Holidays
School will close for summer holidays on Wednesday June 24th at 12.30.
Final Message
I just want to tell you that you have done a fantastic job since we closed school on Thursday March 12th. We are immensely proud of our students and we are keeping all our fingers and toes crossed that we will be back together in September.
